In a small village called Purapuzha near Thodupuzha, in the early 1950s, a young man named K.A. Devasia was quietly changing lives. While serving in the Indian Army, he had developed a deep fascination with homeopathy — studying it methodically through books and correspondence.
When he returned home, homeopathy was practically unknown in Kerala. Undeterred, Dr. Devasia began his practice the most humble way imaginable — giving free medicines to mentally challenged individuals in the village who had been abandoned by conventional medicine.
"Those days homeopathy was not even a very common name in Kerala. He started by giving free medicines to people whom others had given up on."
His results were remarkable. Word spread. Slowly, the skeptical villagers began to trust him. What started as free treatment in his home in Purapuzha grew into a full practice. He moved to Karimkunam, then established himself in Thodupuzha, which became the permanent home of the clinic.
In the early years, Dr. Devasia would practice only on Sundays and late evenings — the only time patients were available. His passion never wavered. Over decades, he built a reputation that stretched across all of Kerala and beyond.
He authored two books on homeopathy, sharing his clinical knowledge with the next generation of practitioners. Three of his children — Dr. V.D. Sebastian, Dr. Laiza Salim (Mattathil, Pala), and Dr. Aleyamma Joseph — all became homeopathic doctors, carrying forward his vision.
When Dr. Devasia passed away on 28 May 2016 at the age of 92, he left behind not just a clinic, but a movement — a family legacy of healing that is now in its third generation, with his grandson Dr. Kuruvila Sebastian and daughter-in-law Dr. Swathi G. Ranganathan continuing the work.
We treat every patient with the same compassion with which Dr. Devasia treated those earliest patients in 1959 — with full attention and without judgment.
We treat the whole person — body, mind, and spirit — not just the disease. Every prescription is tailored to the individual, not the condition.
Three generations of our family have devoted their lives to this work. When you come to us, you are not just a patient — you are part of our extended family.
Three generations of Vazhuthanapallil physicians — ready to serve you.
